These Pumpkin Spiced Chicken Wings are a cozy, fall-inspired appetizer that combines crispy baked or air-fried wings with a sticky glaze made from pumpkin puree, maple syrup, warm spices, and a touch of heat. Sweet, savory, and a little spicy—these wings are the perfect addition to your autumn table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 12 teaspoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley or green onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (or preheat your air fryer to 400°F).
  2. Pat chicken wings dry with paper towels and place them in a large bowl.
  3. Toss wings with oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Spread wings on a wire rack set over a baking sheet (or in a single layer in the air fryer basket).
  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or air fry for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until wings are golden and crispy.
  6. While wings cook, prepare the glaze: in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine pumpkin puree, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, hot sauce, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. Stir and simmer for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Once wings are done, place them in a large bowl and pour the glaze over top. Toss until wings are fully coated.
  8. Optional: Return wings to the oven or air fryer for an additional 5 minutes to caramelize the glaze.
  9. Serve warm, garnished with chopped green onions or parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
  • Adjust spice and heat levels to your taste.
  • For extra crispy wings, use a wire rack during baking.
  • Glaze can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
