Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Dough:

    • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup warm milk
    • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 large egg
    • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Filling:

    • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
    • 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
    • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 tsp cinnamon
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Glaze:

    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 2 tbsp milk or cream
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough

    • In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
    • Add melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually add flour and knead until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
    • Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Filling

    • In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, diced strawberries, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Roll and Fill

    • Roll out the dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
    • Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon and extra sugar.
    • Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other and slice into 12 equal rolls.
  4. Second Rise

    • Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  5. Bake and Glaze

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
    • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Use room-temperature ingredients for the best dough consistency.
  • Let the filling chill slightly before spreading to prevent it from oozing out.
  • Fresh strawberries can be swapped for strawberry jam if needed.
  • Store-bought dough can be used for a quicker version.
