Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz noodles (lo mein, rice noodles, or spaghetti)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable or sesame oil
  • 1/2 lb beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles – Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Sauce – In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili garlic sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and beef broth. Stir well and set aside.
  3. Sear the Beef – Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the sliced beef and sear for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. Sauté the Aromatics – In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed. Sauté the garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Combine Everything – Return the beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and add the cooked noodles. Toss everything together over medium heat until well-coated and heated through.
  6. Garnish and Serve – Top with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra tender beef, slice it against the grain and marinate with a little soy sauce and cornstarch for 10 minutes before cooking.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less chili garlic sauce or using red pepper flakes.
  • For a vegetarian version, swap beef for mushrooms or tofu.
  • Best noodles to use: Lo mein, udon, or even rice noodles, though spaghetti can work in a pinch.
