Scotch Eggs are a delicious combination of hard-boiled eggs wrapped in flavorful sausage meat, coated in breadcrumbs, and fried to crispy perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs: Start by boiling the eggs until they are hard-boiled. Peel and set aside.
  2. Prepare the sausage mixture: In a bowl, combine the breakfast sausage meat with flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well.
  3. Assemble the Scotch Eggs: Flatten a portion of the sausage mixture in your hand, place a boiled egg in the center, and wrap the sausage around the egg, ensuring it is fully covered.
  4. Coat and fry: Dip each sausage-coated egg in beaten eggs, then roll in breadcrumbs. Fry in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Serve: Slice the Scotch Eggs and enjoy them hot or cold.

Notes

  • You can bake the Scotch Eggs instead of frying for a healthier alternative.
  • Experiment with different seasonings in the sausage mixture for a unique flavor twist.
