  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork

  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped fresh Italian parsley (optional)
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten

For the Top:

  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh Italian parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture: Soak the bread in milk until softened. In a large bowl, combine the soaked bread with ground beef, ground pork, salt, pepper, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, olive oil, Parmigiano-Reggiano, parsley, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the Meatballs: Shape the meat mixture into large meatballs and place them in a baking dish.
  3. Add the Tomato Sauce: Pour the tomato sauce over the meatballs, then sprinkle with Monterey Jack and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheeses.
  4. Bake: Bake the meatballs in a preheated oven until cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
