Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz pasta of your choice (linguine, fettuccine, or penne)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Chicken

  1. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  3. Sear the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked (165°F internal temperature).
  4. Remove from the skillet, let rest, and slice before serving.

Step 3: Make the Garlic Butter Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon butter and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  2. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the grated Parmesan cheese and let it melt into the sauce.
  4. If needed, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to thin out the sauce to your desired consistency.

Step 4: Combine Everything

  1. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss it in the creamy garlic butter sauce.
  2. Top with the sliced chicken and garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crispy chicken, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  • To lighten the dish, swap heavy cream for half-and-half or whole milk.
  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
