Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1 pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 packet au jus mix
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dried minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Caramelize the Onions:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and golden brown, approximately 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Assemble the Sliders:

    • Without separating the rolls, slice them horizontally to create a top and bottom slab. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
    • Layer half of the provolone cheese over the bottom slab. Evenly distribute the roast beef over the cheese, followed by the caramelized onions. Top with the remaining provolone cheese, then place the top slab of rolls over the layers.
  4. Prepare the Butter Topping:

    • Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Mix in the Worcestershire sauce, sesame seeds, dried minced garlic, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper.
  5. Bake the Sliders:

    • Brush the butter mixture evenly over the top of the rolls. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Prepare the Au Jus:

    • While the sliders are baking, prepare the au jus according to the package instructions.
  7. Serve:

    • Once the sliders are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm with the prepared au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • Variations: For added flavor, consider adding a layer of horseradish sauce or Dijon mustard before adding the roast beef.
  • Storage: Leftover sliders can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven until warmed through.
