  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch, divided
  • ¾ cup thinly sliced onion

  • 4 clove garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 5 cups broccoli florets

Sauce:

  • ¾ cup water
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Coat the chicken: Toss chicken pieces with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch until well coated.
  2. Stir-fry: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet.
  3. Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, sauté onion, ginger, and garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add broccoli: Add broccoli florets and water. Cover and cook until broccoli is tender-crisp.
  5. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and remaining cornstarch. Pour over broccoli mixture.
  6. Combine: Return chicken to the skillet and toss everything together until well coated and heated through.
