Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 large bananas)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the Batter:

    • In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
    • Stir in the melted butter until well combined.
    • Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  3. Incorporate Dry Ingredients:

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
    • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  4. Add Mix-ins:

    • Fold in chocolate chips and chopped walnuts, if using, to distribute evenly throughout the batter.
  5. Bake:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve:

    • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack.
    • Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
